About The Project
Our Client travels extensively for work. She wanted her Virginia Highlands bungalow to be an oasis where she could relax and unwind when she returned home. Unfortunately a 1950’s bungalow with the original bathrooms just weren’t creating the necessary effect. Both bathrooms were cramped and outdated, and the pink and green tiling were anything but calming Our client wanted a master bathroom, with an organic, relaxed and earthy feel. Additionally, she wanted us to address the small ½ bath to create the same look and feel of the new Master Bath.
Creating the Feel:
We designed a new master bath with slate and natural stone accents and features.
Peacock slate tile was chosen for the flooring and surrounds.
Peacock has a greate deal of color variation running from rusts and tans to greys and black.
A hand laid black pebble border was installed around the perimeter of both bathrooms.
A custom 3” Bluestone slab vanity was manufactured for the Master Bath to support the glass vessel sink.
An imported rosewood console and vessel sink was chosen for the ½ bath construction.
The Project:
The Master Bath and 1/2 bathroom were gutted, removing all fixtures and original tile to the studs
The existing office closet was removed and the space incorporated into master bathroom
The existing access to the Hall closet was closed and the space reassigned to the Office to retain a storage area for the room.
The existing Master Bath window was removed and obscured glass block was installed for privacy
