Case Study 7 - Basement Build Out
Some Thoughts
Our goals for this project were to:
Construct and install a ventless fireplace
Rework existing plumbing drain lines to accommodate the new bathroom layout and Media room wet bar
Layout and construct a temperature-controlled wine cellar
Design and install custom cabinetry for each room
The Project Challenges:
A considerable amount of mechanical supply lines and duct work would have to be relocated to achieve the best use of ceiling heights.

Our client utilized Del Sol's Space Planning Services to optimize on useable space
About The Project
Our Client had a 1500 sqft unfinished basement in one of the newer homes in the Oak Grove Neighborhood. With their children getting older, they wanted a space where they could expand their entertaining, as well as to provide for a wine cellar to better accommodate their growing wine collection. The final plan for the basement included a Media Room with a fireplace, a Game Room and Wine Cellar, an Exercise Room and Full Bathroom equipped with a steam shower, and a Private Office. Additionally, the client wanted matching custom cabinetry designed and constructed for each room
The Construction:
The existing space was reconfigured to accommodate all the client’s needs
All exterior concrete walls were firred in to allow for drywall installation
All ducts and mechanicals were enclosed in boxed chases to create tray ceilings in the Media Room
The Interior Details:
Indian Autumn Slate tile flooring was installed in the new Bathroom, Game Room and Wine Cellar
A Black Slate fireplace surround was constructed around a remote controlled, ventless fireplace
A Steam shower unit and bench were installed in the large bath
Custom Cabinetry with matching trim package was installed throughout project
The existing Exercise Room window was removed and a new French door and small patio were constructed for easier access to the back yard.
